Biodiversity Systems Management & Analytics for the Restoration of Transboundary Rivers (BIO-SMART) Phase 2 expands data-driven conservation from South Africa into Mozambique and Eswatini. By standardising biodiversity & hydrological datasets, launching the eBioNet training platform, and building the Transboundary Biodiversity Learning Network (TBLN), we empower agencies, NGOs, and local communities to safeguard freshwater ecosystems of the Inkomati Basin.
Our ObjectivesUnify biodiversity records from
10 + institutions into FBIS & INWARDS; deploy Mozambique’s first FISHTRAC site.
Release INWARDS v2 with real-time telemetry, open APIs, and GitHub-hosted code for basin managers.
Launch Moodle-based eBioNet courses (English & Portuguese) to upskill over 250 regional practitioners.
Establish the TBLN for cross-border co-learning and policy alignment.
